Inbound

is HubSpot’s annual event, attracting close to 30,000 business professionals each year. Our speakers have included former First Lady Michelle Obama, Amy Schumer, Alec Baldwin, Seth Godin and Katie Couric. I was tasked with creating the entrance videos for our Co-Founders, Brian Halligan & Dharmesh Shah. I had fun with it. Brian and Dharmesh have now entered the Inbound stage after time traveling, morphing into muppets and defeating a game as 8bit characters.

8-Bit Breakout

I’m a big fan of retro 80s sci-fi comedies, so this time around, I had HubSpot co-founders Brian and Dharmesh get sucked into an arcade video game. Their mission? Escape the game's evil outbound marketing villains—like Bullhorn, SpamBot, and the Sales Shark—and make it to the Inbound keynote stage. Spoiler alert: they pull it off, thanks to a hydraulic lift that takes them from the 8-bit world back to the real one.

Startup Time Machine

HubSpot co-founders Brian and Dharmesh realize they’re running late for their big Inbound keynote. Luckily, Dharmesh has been tinkering with a pair of voice-activated, time-traveling phone booths—aka the Sprocketbooths™. There’s just one catch: they’re still in beta. So naturally, a few unexpected pit stops happen before they finally make it to the stage... just in time.

The Journey to Inbound

This time around, I decided to send Brian and Dharmesh on an epic journey to the Inbound stage. We went full retro fantasy with it. The road to Inbound is long, but luckily their trusty Dragon Wagon comes equipped with GPS. The only problem? They’ve got to get past the coldest cold caller in all the land… Kevin.

A Case of the Puppets

The evil outbound company wasn’t messing around this time—they hired a witch to cast a spell on Brian and Dharmesh to stop them from making it to the Inbound stage. The curse? They get turned into puppets. Their only hope? Brian’s close friend, Sherry the Shaman, who has to reverse the curse before time runs out and the big day begins.
